I had a 4TB external drive full of data stop working due to being knocked off my desk onto the floor. Sent an message to Secure Data Recovery Services on their inquiry page and was quickly responded to by Kyle. Arranged to have the drive sent to them for evaluation and they got back to me quickly after. They indicated most of the data can be recovered and quoted a price. For those not familiar to data recovery services, it is not cheap. Kyle was able to lower the price a bit if I was not in a rush to get the data back. As the data was important but not mission critical, I opted to wait longer for the lower fee. Once they recovered the data, a file was provided showing what was recovered and not recovered. I estimate a fraction of a percent of the data was unrecoverable which is better than I expected. Although I knew better, I didn''t have backups so expensive lesson learned. And also, make sure external hard drives are placed in safe secure locations. Although they were excellent in recovering my data, I hope to never need their services again ;)

Best buy told me my hard drive, backed up with 10 years of 1080 and 4k .mp4 footage, was completely cooked and no data was retrievable (to which this took >4 months to tell me).
